Dr. Doug Herriott’s advanced education and training in optometric care makes optometric procedures more accurate and comprehensive than ever before. As an active member in many optometric associations and societies, Dr. Herriott continually completes advanced education to remain at the forefront of comprehensive eye care and treatment. He has studied extensively in the areas of primary care, treatment of ocular diseases, aging of the eye and specialty contact lenses.
One of his specialty areas of interest is the most difficult to fit contacts lenses. These include patients with astigmatism, bifocals, and more severe conditions such as severe dry eye, corneal transplants and keratoconus. He is one of the few doctors in the area who treats severe corneal diseases with contacts and he is currently one of only four doctors in Missouri and Kansas who have qualified to be Fellows of the Scleral Lens Society.

In his spare time Doug enjoys sailing, motorcycling, his dogs and collecting marine chronometers. He and his wife Kathy have two daughters, Brianne and Brooke. In 2018 Bri graduated from medical school at MU, got married and began her pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. His daughter Brooke is also an MU grad and is in hospitality management in Kansas City.
Dr. Doug appreciates knowing so many people in Osawatomie have trusted him to care for their vision. He knows everyone’s life is a journey and he loves to help illuminate it.
